Notice of Election: Practising teacher nominations for the QCT Board now open

Are you interested in representing your teaching colleagues on the profession’s governing board?

Consider nominating for a Board member position of the Queensland College of Teachers (QCT) now.

The current term of appointment of the QCT Board concludes at the end of 2024. Three practising teachers must be elected before then for a new term of appointment commencing in January 2025.

Two of the new board members must be from the State school sector and one from the non-State school sector.

Nominations for the three positions are open from Friday 8 March to 4pm on Friday 5 April 2024.

Voting in the election will take place from Friday 8 May to Friday 7 June 2024. Nomination and voting will be conducted online.

The election is managed on behalf of the QCT by CorpVote, an independent specialist election management company.

To be eligible for nomination, you must:

  • be a practising teacher (i.e., a registered teacher on the educational staff of a Queensland State or non-State school – supply teachers and those with permission to teach are not eligible)
  • be on the QCT register of teachers as of 8 March 2024
  • You must also be nominated by six other registered teachers who are also on the register as of 8 March 2024.

Nomination requirements

Nominations are conducted online and open on Friday 8 March 2024. Late nominations will not be considered.

You must nominate as either a State school or a non-State school teacher, depending on which sector you are employed.

All nominees will be subject to a background and criminal history check.

You must prepare a candidate statement, in writing (100 words) or as an audio/video recording, that includes the following information:

  • headshot photograph (high-resolution)
  • your academic qualifications
  • your professional position
  • your professional address
  • your classroom teaching experience
  • other relevant expertise.

Your statement may include other information you consider is relevant to your candidacy. The information should not exceed 100 words if written OR 1 minute if in an audio/video recording.

The requirements for length and content of statements will be strictly enforced.

Statements will be reviewed and made available to voters on the online voting platform from 10 May.
