QCT x Ruby Olive - Be the Designer Competition Terms and Conditions

Eligibility:

  1. Hold current Queensland teacher registration with the Queensland College of Teachers (QCT).
  2. QCT employees and their immediate families are ineligible to enter.
  3. By submitting an entry, the entrant agrees to be bound by the terms and conditions outlined in this document.
  4. Entries with offensive or discriminatory content against any individual or group of people will be ineligible.

Entry Requirements:

  1. Entries are open between Monday 15 January 2024 and 5:00pm Friday 23 February 2024.
  2. Entries must be submitted by 5:00pm Friday 23 February 2024, late entries will not be accepted.
  3. Entries must be made by uploading to the provided link.
  4. Designs must not plagiarise the work of any other person.

Picture ​​requirements:

  1. The image of the design must be submitted in High Resolution JPG Format with a file package not exceeding 20MB
  2. Entries should be at least 5MB. Please ensure the export quality is of high quality.
  3. Post processing (e.g., Photoshop and similar) is permitted.
  4. Digital designs are permitted.
  5. If the design is painted or drawn; it must be scanned/photographed.

Judging and prizes

  1. All entries will be judged by a QCT appointed panel.
  2. The winning entries will be drawn from a shortlist of finalised by the QCT panel.
  3. Prize money and Ruby Olive gift pack will be provided to the winners. There will be up to three winners. First prize: Ruby Olive gift pack valued at $250 & $500 cash prize; Second prize: Ruby Olive gift pack valued at $250 and $300 cash prize; Third prize: Ruby Olive gift pack valued at $250.
  4. The winners will be notified by phone or email and will be announced on the QCT website and social media accounts.
  5. The Judges’ decisions will be deemed final, and appeals will not be considered.

Exhibition and use

  1. Imagery will be used by the QCT for any promotional and publicity purposes.

Copyright and moral rights.

  1. In submitting an entry, the teacher:
    1. warrants that they are the owner of all copyright of the image or have obtained all necessary approvals from copyright owners to permit the submission of the imagery to the competition
    2. grants permission for the imagery to be used for promotional and publicity purposes relating to QCT and the International forum of Teacher Regulatory Authorities Conference, and for the imagery to be promoted through QCT social media sites and corporate website
    3. grants permission for the imagery and lanyard to be used by Ruby Olive Jewellery and Accessories for commercial use.
  2. Upon submission of an entry to the Competition, the school/ teacher grants the QCT the right to:
    1. maintain a copy of the imagery for archival purposes
    2. enlarge and adapt the imagery to fit the large-scale format and/or adapt the imagery to fit onto the product produced
    3. publish the imagery on QCT’s website and social media platforms
    4. use the imagery for promotional and publicity purposes relating to promoting the teaching profession
    5. display the imagery in public spaces, and
    6. allow the imagery to be reproduced and/or exhibited by the QCT.
  3. Upon submission of an entry to the Competition, the teacher grants Ruby Olive Jewellery and Accessories the right to:
    1. maintain a copy of the imagery for commercial purposes in line with the QCT collaboration
    2. enlarge and adapt the imagery
    3. publish the imagery on Ruby Olive’s website and social media platforms
    4. use the imagery for promotional and publicity purposes relating to promoting the Ruby Olive Jewellery and Accessories brand and business
    5. display the imagery in public spaces, and
    6. allow the imagery to be reproduced and sold on Ruby Olive Jewellery and Accessories products.
  4. The use of any design or imagery by Ruby Olive for commercial purposes will be subject to agreement between Ruby Olive Jewellery and Accessories and the teacher, and a portion of profits will be given to a charity nominated by the winner in conjunction with the QCT and Ruby Olive.
  5. This consent is perpetual, nonexclusive, transferrable, and royalty-free.
  6. While the QCT and Ruby Olive Jewellery and Accessories will take care to ensure the quality and integrity of the reproduced imagery the teacher acknowledges that enlargements and slight variations to the imagery may result from adapting the original artwork.

Force Majeure

  1. If for any reason the competition is not capable of running as planned(including due to infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorised intervention, fraud, technical failures or any other causes beyond the control of the QCT and/or Ruby Olive Jewellery and Accessories), which corrupts or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of this competition, the QCT reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to take any action that may be available, and to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the competition. The QCT reserves the right in its sole discretion to disqualify entries from any individual who tampers with, or benefits from tampering with, which as a result corrupts or affects the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of the competition.

Consent

  1. The entrant, the registered teacher signing the entry form, grants consent to the QCT to use and retain
    1. the Individual’ name
    2. the submitted image; and
    3. the copyright material.
  2. Personal contact information provided as part of entry will not be disclosed without consent for any purpose other than in relation to the competition and these terms and conditions unless required by law.
  3. The QCT takes no responsibility for circumstances in which it is misled as to the identity or authority of a person to provide consent.
  4. The consent applies to any use of the teacher’s name or image in connection with the QCT, including for the following purposes:
    1. promotion and activities relating to the 2024 IFTRA conference
    2. public relations, promotion, advertising, media and commercial activities
    3. use by the media in relation to activities that promote the teaching profession; and
    4. use by other organisations, if any, in partnership or association with the QCT, to promote the profession or the functions of the QCT.
  5. Consent means that the QCT has permission to use the individual’s material for the purposes mentioned.
  6. A teacher may revoke this consent by notifying the QCT in writing.

QCT Use

  1. ‘Use’ includes:
    1. create, make copies of, reproduce, modify, adapt or retain in any form, including by camera, video, or digital recorder, webcam, closed-circuit television, mobile phone or any other device.
    2. distribute, publish or communicate in any form, including but not limited to newsletters and other print media, electronic media, television, social media platforms and the internet; and in whole or in part, and to permit other persons to do so.
  2. The completed material can appear in IFTRA conference Lanyards and business collateral, as well as QCT newsletters, QCT magazines, QCT websites, on QCT social media platforms and in other QCT publications, as well as in television advertising, videos, brochures, forms, public relations displays, annual reports, press advertising, internal publications. There may also be occasions on which the QCT may approve the media, such as local newspapers and television, using information and material concerning Individuals.
  3. The QCT will not pay the Entrant, or an Individual, for giving consent or for the use of the Entrant/Individual’s name, image, or Individual work.

Ownership

  1. The QCT and Ruby Olive Jewellery and Accessories understand that the teacher owns the intellectual property rights in the image submitted or has permission to use the image, and that consent to use the image for the purposes in these terms and conditions is not meant to transfer ownership.

Duration

  1. Consent continues unless revoked in writing to the Director, QCT.
  2. Any revocation of consent will not affect existing contractual obligations entered into by the QCT prior to the consent being revoked.
  3. The revocation of consent will take effect when the QCT’s contractual obligations end.
