The 2025 Australian Teacher Workforce Survey is open

ATWD Survey for 2025 is open

Your voice matters in creating positive change for Australia’s teaching profession. This isn’t just another survey - it’s your opportunity to influence national education policy.

Survey opens: Monday 11 August | Time needed: around 10 minutes

Thanks to teachers, we now understand the profession better than ever with the ATWD’s latest data. We know that:

  • Full-time classroom teachers report long hours during school term (median of 50 hours per week)
    • They spend over 5 hours per week on admin and over 9 hours per week on lesson planning
  • 42% of the workforce has 6-19 years’ experience in the teaching profession
  • 55% of early career teachers reported receiving a formal induction, with mentoring being the most useful activity
  • 35% of teachers are unsure if they’ll stay in the profession until their retirement

Take the survey today and tell AITSL if this matches your experience. All the answers and information you provide are anonymised to protect your privacy.

All registered teachers in Queensland will receive a unique survey link via email on Monday 11 August 2025.

Remember, if you don’t speak up, others will decide for you.

Visit AITSL’s Australian Teacher Workforce Survey page for additional information.

Read about the findings from previous Australian Teacher Workforce Surveys here or explore the Data Portal.

The 2025 Australian Teacher Workforce Survey is administered by AITSL, and any general questions or feedback regarding the wording, structure, or grammar of the survey questions should be directed to them at atwd@aitsl.edu.au.

The Australian Teacher Workforce Survey is part of the Australian Teacher Workforce Data (ATWD) initiative, which is funded by all governments and is working to deliver a comprehensive picture of our national teacher workforce.
