Thanks to teachers, we now understand the profession better than ever with the ATWD’s latest data. We know that:

Full-time classroom teachers report long hours during school term (median of 50 hours per week)
- They spend over 5 hours per week on admin and over 9 hours per week on lesson planning
- 42% of the workforce has 6-19 years’ experience in the teaching profession
- 55% of early career teachers reported receiving a formal induction, with mentoring being the most useful activity
- 35% of teachers are unsure if they’ll stay in the profession until their retirement

All registered teachers in Queensland will receive a unique survey link via email on Monday 11 August 2025.
