Your RTT condition checkup

Based on your situation, you are not yet required to complete a Returning to Teaching (RTT) program. However, you will be required to take action once you start teaching.

Why do I have an RTT condition?

Teachers with an RTT condition have declared they have not met recency of practice (teaching for 100 days) in their previous five-year renewal period. An RTT condition does not imply a reduction in status or credentials as a registered teacher.

The RTT condition simply ensures that teachers who have had a significant absence from teaching (or have had irregular contact with schools) have their knowledge and skills brought up to date.

This helps maintain the integrity of the profession and helps teachers feel more confident as they return.

What action will I need to take?

If you are teaching 20 days or more in a calendar year:

You must complete all the RTT elements. When you tell us, your RTT condition will be removed.
