Students studying under the Bachelor of Mathematics component in MV01 Bachelor of Mathematics and EU50 Master of Teaching (Secondary) take discipline units to meet the requirement for two teaching areas in the Master of Teaching (Secondary). Completion of the degree provides the required minimum 72 credit points of discipline content to permit Mathematics as a first teaching area. Students also complete 48 credit points in computing, which provides the discipline knowledge for Technologies Education (Digital Technologies) as a second teaching area.

Students in SV02 Bachelor of Science and EU50 Master of Teaching (Secondary) choose one 240-credit-point major from the disciplines listed below. This provides the discipline content knowledge required for a first teaching area (a minimum of six 12-credit-point units, or 72 credit points). Students who complete an Earth Science or Environmental Science major are eligible for Earth and Environmental Science as their first teaching area:
