Code of Ethics

Teachers in Queensland must follow the Code of Ethics and maintain professional boundaries. The Code sets out expected behaviour and emphasises core values, including integrity, respect, responsibility, dignity, justice, and care. Teachers should use the Code alongside school, early childhood settings and employer policies to guide their conduct. As trusted professionals, teachers are expected to uphold high standards.

How teachers use the Code

Teachers use the Code of Ethics, along with schools, early childhood sites and employer policies, to guide their actions and decision-making. By following these values, teachers create a safe, fair, and supportive environment for everyone.

This Code reminds teachers of the important role they play in students’ lives and the trust the community places in them. It helps teachers stay professional and do their best in all situations.
