Employers of teachers

The QCT doesn't hire teachers or keep full employment records. Below are common employers of teachers in Queensland who can help with questions about jobs, salaries, or statements of service.

State schools

The Department of Education manages all applications for employment in state schools.

Catholic schools

Catholic school teaching positions can be found on CathEd Careers Queensland, with general information on employment in the Catholic sector on Catholic Education Queensland Limited.

Independent schools

Teaching positions in independent schools are advertised on multiple websites, including the Teach in Queensland jobs board. Visit Independent Schools Queensland for general information related to teaching in the independent sector.

Early childhood education and care services

There are job opportunities for qualified teachers in early childhood centres or long-day care services. The QCT does not require registration to work in such settings. However, employers may be seeking an early childhood teacher who has registration. They still need to meet the QCT’s eligibility requirements to be granted registration.

TAFE may offer additional opportunities for teaching positions.
