Reportable conduct
The Reportable Conduct Scheme (RCS) commences in Queensland on 1 July 2026. It is established by the Child Safe Organisations Act 2024 (CSO Act) and is overseen by the Queensland Family and Child Commission. The QCT is a prescribed sector regulator for Education Services under the CSO Act.
The RCS requires organisations to report and investigate allegations of child abuse and misconduct by their workers in a timely way. The scheme also enables certain information to be shared between relevant entities to prevent harm to children.
Reportable conduct includes:
- a child sexual offence
- sexual misconduct committed in relation to, or in the presence of, a child
- ill-treatment of a child
- significant neglect of a child
- physical violence committed in relation to, or in the presence of, a child
- behaviour that causes significant emotional or psychological harm to a child.
The QCT’s statutory mandatory notification requirements intersect with the RCS obligations.
