Program description and rationale

To graduate with a Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood), students must complete 32 units, including discipline-specific curriculum and pedagogical studies, a primary specialisation, and demonstrate knowledge of the core content and meet the Learning Outcomes.
 
The available learning/subject area for the primary specialisation is English. Students located in the Rockhampton diocese, if selected for the program, can undertake a specialisation in Catholic Education.
 
The Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood) includes 90 days of supervised professional experience in primary schools and early childhood settings, with an additional 15 days spent in the birth to 35 months group.
 
Central Queensland University graduates have successfully passed the national literacy and numeracy test (LANTITE), the final Queensland Professional Experience Reporting Framework (QPERF), and the Graduate Teaching Performance Assessment (GTPA).

Program description and rationale

To graduate with a Bachelor of Education (Secondary), students must complete 30 units, including discipline-specific curriculum and pedagogical studies (two discipline teaching areas), and demonstrate knowledge of the core content and meet the Learning Outcomes.
 
The discipline teaching areas available include Agriculture Science (including Year 7-10 Science), Biology (including Year 7-10 Science), Business, Chemistry (including Year 7-10 Science), English, Geography, Health and Physical Education, History, Home Economics and Hospitality, Industrial Technology and Design, Mathematics, and Psychology (including Year 7-10 Science).
 
The Bachelor of Education (Secondary) includes 85 days of supervised professional experience in secondary schools.

A key feature of the Bachelor of Education (Secondary) is the trade entry credit pathway, which allows students entering the course with a recognised Trade qualification who wish to teach Secondary Industrial Technology and Design or Home Economics and Hospitality to be eligible for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) into this course of study. A maximum of 6 units may be approved towards Discipline Teaching Area 1.

To graduate with a Master of Teaching (Early Childhood) students are required to complete 16 units, including discipline-specific curriculum and pedagogical studies and demonstrate knowledge and meet the Learning Outcomes of the core content.

Graduates will graduate with a primary specialisation that is aligned to the Australian Curriculum: English learning area taught in Queensland primary schools.

The Master of Teaching (Early Childhood) includes 65 days of supervised professional experience in primary schools, including a 20-day Kindergarten placement.
