Application outcomes
Registration
If you meet all eligibility requirements, you will be granted registration. For most people, this will be provisional registration. If you have evidence of recent teaching experience in an Australian school, you may be granted full registration.
Permission to Teach
Permission to Teach (PTT) applications can be approved in three ways: fully approved, partially approved, or approved with conditions.
Fully approved means the QCT believes the applicant has the knowledge, qualifications, skills, or training to teach the subjects and year levels requested by the employer.
Partially approved means the QCT is not satisfied that the applicant has the knowledge, qualifications, training, or skills for the employer's request, and the applicant is approved to teach only some of the requested subjects or year levels.
The QCT may also approve PTT with conditions, such as improving English language proficiency. This means the applicant can teach within the approved parameters but must meet the conditions within the given timeframe.
You can find more information about PTT under types of registration.
Approval with a condition
In certain cases, registration or PTT is granted with a condition. This condition may be necessary to ensure you meet eligibility requirements.
This means you’ll need to meet certain requirements to keep your approval to teach.
Details of the condition, including why it was imposed and how to comply, are set out in the approval notice, issued once your application is finalised.
See conditions for more information.
Withdrawal or closure
You can email the QCT to request withdrawal of your application before it has been finalised if you no longer wish to proceed.
Sometimes applicants don’t provide all the information needed for the QCT to decide on their application. If this happens, you will receive a notice requesting the missing information. If it’s not provided to us within the timeframe listed, we will withdraw your application and let you know.
When the QCT receives a notice for mutual recognition that isn’t complete or valid, it may be closed and the applicant notified.
You can lodge a new application if your application is withdrawn or closed. To do this, make sure you have all the documents and evidence you’ll need, then apply again through myQCT.
Refused registration
Your application may be refused if it is determined that one or more eligibility requirements are not met.
Review of decision
You can ask for a review of the decision if your application is refused.
