English language proficiency
You need to provide proof of your English language proficiency (ELP) unless you completed all four years of higher education required for registration in English in one of these countries:
- Australia
- New Zealand
- United Kingdom
- United States
- Canada
- Republic of Ireland
You'll need to provide one of these to evidence your English skills:
- An IELTS (International English Language Testing System) test report – include a copy with your application.
- An ISLPR (International Second Language Proficiency Ratings) test report – the results will be sent to the QCT and matched to your application.
You must take the test within three years of your application date.
Minimum test scores
IELTS (Academic test)
- At least 8.0 in Speaking and Listening
- At least 7.0 in Reading and Writing
- An overall average of 7.5 across all four skills
ISLPR (focused on the language of teaching from approved test centres)
- At least 4 in Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing

Contact the test centre for information and to arrange your test. Tell the centre the test is for a QCT registration application.
