Highly Accomplished teachers are highly effective classroom practitioners. They work both independently and with colleagues to improve teaching and learning. They are active, respected members of their school community.

They support other teachers' learning and may mentor, guide or lead colleagues. They regularly share effective teaching practices to improve student outcomes.

These teachers understand their students’ backgrounds, strengths and learning needs. They use this knowledge to create positive, effective learning environments and to help other teachers do the same.

Highly Accomplished teachers have strong knowledge of their subject areas and the curriculum. They model effective teaching and collaborate with colleagues to plan, review and improve learning programs.

They keep their knowledge up to date and use student assessment data to improve teaching and learning.

They also promote professional learning among colleagues and continue developing their own skills to meet student needs.

Highly Accomplished teachers communicate clearly and respectfully with students, colleagues, families and community members, and they act professionally and ethically at all times.
