Principals and RTT

If you are a principal, deputy principal, head of department, or head of curriculum of an Australian school, you may need to have your Returning to Teaching (RTT) condition reviewed.

Why review my RTT condition

You have an RTT condition because you declared you have not met recency of practice (teaching for 100 days) in a previous five-year registration period.

Principals, deputy principals, heads of department, or heads of curriculum who are providing substantial leadership to an educational program are included in the definition of a teacher for recency of practice purposes.

Therefore, if you have been active in any of these roles for more than 100 days in that five-year registration period, you have met recency of practice and an RTT condition should not have been applied to your registration.

How to rectify this

  1. Obtain a statement of service from your employer for the period of your five-year registration period that you declared you did not meet recency of practice. If you are unsure when this period is, please email the QCT at rtt@qct.edu.au or call (07) 3377 4777.
  1. Apply to review your RTT condition through your myQCT account. You can find this option in the Menu, under Applications. In the online form, please select the option which reflects that you declared that you did not meet recency of practice in previous renewals.
  1. Email the statement of service to: rtt@qct.edu.au.

Please action this as soon as possible so we can review your condition.
