Transitioning to a different area of teaching

A registered teacher can legally be employed to teach any year level in a school.

The school/employer ultimately decides specific subjects, grades or classes assigned to a registered teacher.

However, if you wish to upgrade your skills to transition from primary to secondary teaching or vice versa; or to early childhood teaching, you may find some useful tips in the Transitioning to a different area of teaching fact sheet (PDF, 1502KB).
