As the Head of the Language Department, Kumiko provides LOTE (Languages Other Than English) education to students across Queensland using online resources. Kumiko strives to improve her online teaching methods, regularly trialling new education products and software for the benefit of her colleagues and students. To share her passion for the Japanese culture, Kumiko arranges annual trips to Japan for her students and hosts regular ‘cultural immersion days’. Kumiko devotes large amounts of time to mentoring new teachers and sharing her knowledge of online training tools, and under Kumiko’s guidance the Languages Department has grown to more than 2000 students in 2012.
