Maria leads the Metropolitan ESL Differentiation Project that supports ESL (English as a Second Language) students’ access to the new Australian curriculum. This project has significantly raised the profile of ESL teachers state wide. Maria also coordinates professional mentoring and activities for ESL staff and has compiled overviews of the ESL Essential Teaching Emphases to assist both ESL and mainstream teachers to support their students. Maria has also utilised information and communications technology to differentiate and personalise learning for ESL students.
