Some teachers might measure students’ results from A to E — but Corey wants to know how fast they get from A to B, and if it is a world record. For the past four years, he has been building Pine Rivers’ reputation as a hub for excellence in the Re-engineering F1 in Schools program, which gives students the chance to design, build and race miniature gas-powered balsa wood F1 cars that reach speeds of 100 kilometres an hour. Not only has Corey driven the program from being an extra-curricular activity to a key feature of the curriculum, it has also put Pine Rivers on the world map.
