With more than three decades’ service to her credit, Margaret has become an inspiration to generations of school communities including teachers, parents and past students who return for career advice, reassurance and mentorship. Her first teaching posting to Thursday Island inspired her career-long dedication to improving outcomes for Indigenous students, and a highlight was as School Project Officer for a ten-year project that linked more than 500 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students from Mackay with industry groups. A true all-rounder, Margaret has helped coordinate her school’s mathematics department, organised extension activities and coached sporting teams.
