Being nominated for an award provides a teacher with genuine peer and public recognition. Nominees will receive a certificate of recognition during the week of celebrations for World Teachers' Day (Friday 26 October 2012). Winners of each category and finalists will receive funding for professional development and their exemplary efforts will be showcased in local media and educational publications.

Eligibility
- Nominees must be registered with the QCT and be employed in teaching duties in a state or nonstate school in Queensland
- Teachers, heads of department, heads of curriculum, heads of special
education services, deputy principals & principals may be nominated - Self-nominators are not eligible but nominees may clarify achievements
- QCT Board members and staff are not eligible for nomination
Nominator
- 1 nominator required from teaching colleagues, department heads, principals, students, parents or parent groups
- Nominators must provide a response to the criteria below
Endorsement
- The nominated teacher’s school principal must provide a statement to verify the bona fides of the supporting information
- A district/regional supervisor or school board should provide a statement to verify the bona fides of a nominated principal
Criteria
Nominators should describe skills, knowledge & abilities of their nominee with the following criteria:
- Leading teaching and learning
- Developing self and others
- Leading improvement and innovation
Award Prizes
- 1 winner receives $5000 for professional development with Queensland Educational Leadership Institution QELi
- 4 finalists receive $1000 for professional development with Queensland Educational Leadership Institution QELi

- Nominees do not need to be currently employed in a school
- Nominees must be registered with the QCT
- Teachers, heads of department, heads of curriculum, heads of special
education services, deputy principals & principals may be nominated - A person may be nominated for service as a classroom teacher or in
other teaching or leadership positions in any school sector - Self-nominators are not eligible but nominees may clarify achievements
- QCT Board members and staff are not eligible for nomination
Nominators
- 2 nominators must each provide a statement addressing the criteria below
- 1 nominator must be a registered teacher
- 1 nominator required from teaching colleagues, department heads, principals, students, parents or parent groups
Endorsement
- The nominated teacher’s school principal must provide a statement to verify the bona fides of the supporting information
- Another education official should provide a statement to verify the bona fides of a nominated principal
Criteria
- An outstanding contribution to teaching over an extended period
- A proven record of inspiring children to learn
