Requirements for Becoming a Teacher
All teachers in Queensland schools must hold teacher registration with the Queensland College of Teachers.
To be eligible for registration in Queensland, teachers are required to have appropriate qualifications and meet the suitability to teach criteria.
An initial teaching qualification is gained by undertaking a preservice teacher education program. There are many different preservice teacher education programs offered by Queensland universities and interstate universities. All of these programs incorporate learning how to teach and practical experience in schools.
When registration is granted, teachers are eligible to seek employment in any Queensland school.
