Provisionally registered supply teachers moving to full registration |
The required minimum teaching experience to progress to full registration is one year (a total of 200 days or 1000 hours). Supply teachers may experience difficulty in obtaining sufficient teaching work therefore the requirement does not have to be completed in one school or within one 12 month period and may include a number of individual days as well as continuous teaching experience. To expedite the process provisionally registered supply teachers are encouraged to build strong relationships with local schools and, in particular, with schools where employment is most regular. Provisionally registered teachers are not subject to the CPD Framework requirements.

Fully registered and practising supply teachers (including those with less than 200 days teaching in five year registration period) |
Supply teachers are advised to keep a record of teaching experience and have evidence of this in the form of employment records, payslips, etc.
If you are a fully registered teacher who has taught for at least 200 days (1000 hours) within the five year period of registration, you have recency of practice. If you do not have recency of practice check the following pages for further information.

CPD information for fully registered supply/contract teachers |
|
In each five year registration period fully registered supply/contract teachers must have undertaken the CPD required under the CPD Framework. The CPD Framework contains a pro-rata schedule to indicate the minimum CPD requirement for teachers employed less than full time. All CPD amounts are calculated on a calendar year basis. As a supply/contract teacher you will need to monitor progressively the number of days you teach to assist in determining your required CPD. Teachers must keep records of CPD completed - the QCT's online recording tool is useful for this. Teachers must also keep the evidence of CPD, for example, certificates, transcripts, receipts, notes.
