Professional Development
As part of the renewal of registration process every five years, teachers who have recency of practice, will be required to demonstrate that they have met the specific continuing professional development (CPD) requirements of the QCT's Continuing Professional Development Framework.
There are many opportunities for teachers to continue to develop skills and knowledge required for rapidly changing educational environments. Through engagement with a variety of professional development opportunities, teachers have the opportunity to enhance their practice, support student learning and ensure high educational standards.
Professional development comprises active and reflective engagement in a range of professional experiences that are considered supplementary to the day-to-day responsibilities of a teacher. The intent of professional development is to enhance the skills, knowledge and understandings of teachers in order to influence student learning outcomes.
Professional development can be sourced from a diverse range of providers. It can be:
- employer provided
- linked to systemic programs and initiatives
- delivered by private providers
- comprise additional formal study (university, TAFE)
- school-based
- offered by professional associations and networks
