Fee payable on renewal

The fee for five-yearly renewal of teacher registration is the annual fee. For 2012 the annual fee is $70.50. When you are due to renew your registration you will receive an annual fee notice that identifies your annual fee for the year is also your renewal fee.

Restoration fee

There is no late fee applicable at the end of your five year period of full registration. For 2012 the restoration fee is $66.50. If you miss paying your annual fee by your registration end date then an additional fee applies. This is the “restoration fee”. The restoration period is for the three months immediately following your registration end date. You must pay the annual fee PLUS the restoration fee (as well as ensuring you have submitted your renewal or restoration form) should you wish to apply to renew your registration during this time. If you do not renew or restore your registration your registration will end and should you wish to teach in Queensland you will need to re-apply for registration.

Annual fee payment and the late fee (for other than renewing teachers)

The Annual Fee is payable every year and a fee notice will be sent to your chosen address approximately six weeks prior to the due date of the payment.  There is currently no option to pay for more than one year at a time.

If the Annual Fee is not paid by the due date on the Fee Notice a late fee will be incurred. If the Annual Fee and/or the Late Fee are not paid by the due date on the Final Reminder notice the QCT is required to cancel registration.

2012 - Applications fees for registration

The fee is made up of an application fee of 85.00 (not applicable to applicants applying within two years of completing an approved initial teaching qualification at a Queensland higher education institution), an initial registration fee of $109.50, and the fee applicable for screening that a person is suitable to teach: for blue card holders without a criminal history $11.55; for all other applicants $23.50.

Should the Commission for Children and Child Guardian and Young People (CCYPCG) inform the QCT that further screening is required of an applicant, the payment of the Criminal History Check Fee will be required.

The criminal history check fee and CCYPCG fee is non-refundable. If your application is not approved or is withdrawn, the $109.50 initial registration fee will be refunded. Once you are registered, all these fees are non-refundable.

SUITABILITY TO TEACH screening
The fees associated with screening to determine that a person is suitable to teach are charged only at the time of initial application for registration.  The costs associated with screening at the time of renewal have been factored into the annual registration fee. For a person who holds a blue card issued by Commission for Children and Child Guardian and Young People (CCYPCG) and who does not have a criminal history the CCYPCG Fee applies. For all other persons the Criminal History Check Fee applies. Should the CCYPCG inform the QCT at the time of the screening check that further screening is required of the applicant, payment of the Criminal History Check Fee will be also be required.
