Teacher Induction
An effective induction program is considered a critical element in the successful progression from provisional registration to full registration.
The QCT has an interest in the induction of teachers, especially provisionally-registered teachers.
Each year the QCT hold workshops around Queensland for provisionally registered teachers providing them the opportunity to gain first hand knowledge of QCT policy (including the Professional Standards for Queensland Teachers) and understand their responsibilities in the process of progressing from provisional to full registration. The QCT invite school administrators and teachers who support provisionally registered teachers to attend the workshop to gain an understanding of their own responsibilities within the process, and to engage in the activities involving professional discussion around the Standards with their provisionally registered teachers.
The QCT has developed an online presentation and workshop.
Online Presentation and Workshop
The online presentation and workshop, Towards Full Registration: The Professional Standards for Queensland Teachers and You can be accessed for individual learning, for workshops at schools or on a wider (district or regional) basis and beyond.
The intention of the workshop component is to stimulate thinking and encourage professional discussion among teachers regarding how the Standards should look ‘in action’ and how the reflective use of the Standards will promote the development of teachers’ knowledge and practice.
The workshop can be conducted for provisionally registered teachers (and their in-school supporters) as a part of their school-based beginning teachers’ induction program.
Note: The presentation and workshop can also be used as a professional learning experience for all teachers as it includes information about the role of the Queensland College of Teachers in regulating the profession, the requirements for registration across a teaching career and the development of the Professional Standards for Queensland Teachers.
