Teaching experience acceptable for progression from provisional to full registration

Only teaching experience gained after the date on which provisional registration in Queensland was granted is acceptable. The experience must have been completed no more than five years prior to completion of the Recommendation Report.

Classroom teaching experience in a prescribed school in Queensland, or a recognised school in another Australian state or territory, or in New Zealand is acceptable.

Teaching in another setting delivering a prescribed educational program (see below), or other experience the QCT is satisfied is equivalent to teaching at a school for purposes of provisionally registered teachers moving to full registration, is also acceptable.

Teaching experience in a setting delivering an educational program based on a QSA approved or accredited syllabus, including the Queensland Studies Authority (QSA) Kindergarten Guideline or the C&K ‘Building waterfalls’ QSA accredited kindergarten guideline, is acceptable. Appropriate ongoing support from a fully registered teacher who also will be able to complete the Recommendation for Full Registration Report is essential. The QCT should be notified prior to or at commencement of teaching with the QSA Kindergarten Learning Guideline or the C&K ‘Building waterfalls’ kindergarten guideline, using Form K: Progressing to Full Teacher Registration if Teaching a QSA Approved or Accredited Kindergarten Guideline.

If teaching in another setting in Queensland, the provisionally registered teacher must apply to the QCT to have their teaching experience recognised under the QCT policy on equivalent experience acceptable for provisionally registered teachers to move to full registration. This also requires the organisation to apply to the QCT for recognition. These applications should be made prior to or at commencement of teaching in the setting.
