Responsibilities of the Professional Standards Unit include:
Accrediting and monitoring Queensland initial teacher education programs;
Developing, implementing and monitoring policies based on professional standards for registration, renewal, initial teacher education programs and returning to teaching programs;
Providing information and advice to teachers and others about requirements for teacher education, gaining full registration, recency of practice, CPD, returning to teaching and equivalence of experience; and
