Teachers Disciplinary Committee
The Teachers Disciplinary Committee (TDC) is a disciplinary committee that is independent of the QCT.
If the QCT reasonably believes on the basis of disciplinary information received by the QCT that one or more grounds for disciplinary action exist against a relevant teacher, the QCT must refer the matter to the TDC if it considers serious disciplinary action is likely to be appropriate.
The Professional Practice & Conduct Committee (PP&C Committee) may also refer disciplinary matters to the TDC.
Role of the TDC
The QCT and the teacher to whom the proceedings relate are the parties to disciplinary proceedings before the TDC. The role of the TDC is to:
- conduct hearings and make decisions about disciplinary matters referred to it by the QCT or the PP&C Committee
- review the continuation of suspension of an approved teacher where the teacher is charged with an disqualifying offence
- authorise an investigation if it believes that further information is required to decide a disciplinary matter.
