Returning To Teaching (RTT)
Fully registered teachers who do not have recency of practice will have their full registration renewed subject to a Returning to Teaching condition. Should they wish to continue or return to teaching in a school they will be required to complete a Returning to Teaching professional development program within the 12 months before, or within the first 12 months after, returning to teaching, to ensure that their knowledge, skills and practice are up to date.
Please note: The only teachers who are required by QCT to do a Returning to Teaching (RTT) program are fully-registered teachers who have a RTT condition placed on their registration. This condition is stated on the Certificate of Registration which is issued after the annual fee payment. The RTT program only needs to be undertaken if a teacher with a RTT condition wishes to continue or return to teaching in a Queensland school. Please refer to the Returning to Teaching Fact Sheet for more information about who has to complete a RTT program and when this should be undertaken.
