'Returning To Teaching' (RTT) condition

Fully registered teachers who do not have recency of practice will have their full registration renewed subject to a 'Returning to Teaching' condition.

The RTT condition is a requirement that teachers update their knowledge, skills and practice by completing an approved 'Returning to Teaching' professional development program within the 12 months before, or within the first 12 months after, returning to teaching.

The Queensland College of Teachers has developed policy regarding the content, structure and delivery of approved RTT programs, based on the requirements of the legislation. Programs are offered by a range of providers and are available in a variety of flexible modes e.g. face-to-face and/or online learning.

Teachers must complete an approved RTT program in order for the QCT to remove the condition on their registration.

Teachers subject to an RTT condition may make a written application to the QCT asking for the condition to be reviewed.
