Provisional Registration
Provisional Registration
The period of provisional registration represents a supported introduction to the teaching profession in Queensland. It forms part of the continuum of ongoing development from preservice education to career-long learning.
Features of this period include:
- teaching experience
- guided reflection on practice
- professional development and growth
- collegial support and participation in collegial activities
Period of Provisional Registration
The initial period of provisional registration is two years from the date on which a person is first registered.
Extending provisional registration
Teachers who do not meet the requirements for full registration before the provisional registration period is due to expire, may apply to extend their provisional registration for a further two years. Only one such extension is permitted. You will receive advice from the QCT at the appropriate time about how to apply for an extension of Provisional Registration.
Teachers who do not meet the requirements for full registration by the end of the extended provisional registration period will be required to re-apply for provisional registration.
