Queensland Education Performance Review.

The Queensland Government recently engaged Professor Geoff Masters, Chief Executive Officer of the Australian Council for Educational Research to undertake a review of Queensland primary education. His final report, 'A Shared Challenge: Improving Literacy, Numeracy and Science Learning in Queensland Primary Schools', was presented to the Premier of Queensland Anna Bligh and Education and Training Minister Geoff Wilson on 1 May 2009.

Professor Masters´ report contains five key recommendations to improve the performance of Queensland primary schools in literacy, numeracy and science learning. The Queensland College of Teachers has submitted a response that has been compiled drawing on the breadth and expertise of the Board of the Queensland College of Teachers and its stakeholder members including practising teachers, employers, unions, higher education institutions and community representatives.

The Queensland Government will provide a complete response to the findings of the review after consulting with key stakeholders and considering submissions from the community. Submissions closed on Friday, 29 May 2009.
