Queensland Civil & Administrative Tribunal

 

On 1 December 2009 the Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunal (QCAT) commenced operation.  QCAT replaced the former Teachers Disciplinary Committee. 

QCAT conducts disciplinary proceedings against teachers following a referral of a disciplinary matter by the QCT or the PP&C Committee. 

For disciplinary proceedings QCAT must be constituted by three members of QCAT: a legally qualified member who is familiar with school environments; a registered teacher; and a person who is not a registered teacher.

QCAT can also review decisions made by the QCT or the PP&C Committee.
